Fulwell Windmill Progress March 2017

16th March 2017

Progress is being made away from site on the restoration of the timber work of the Fulwell Windmill.

We are restoring as much of the original parts as possible and the works are in the hands of a specialist millwright and our consultant Luke Bonwick  http://www.bonwick.co.uk/

The repairs and new work are forming up into quite a list:

The cap frame components have some reusable metal items and these are being salvaged.

The neck and tail bearing brasses of the windshaft and bearings have been cleaned and examined.

The timber brake shoes to the brake band is being conserved and repaired.

And the brake wheel has been repaired and re-cogged.

All of this means that we are making steady progress with the cap items and hope to move on to the fantail next.
